Come and meet the “What Took You So Long: film crew: a small team of anthropological filmmakers showcasing material filmed in more than 24 countries, some of of which do not even exist, politically speaking! Their quest: to document stories untold and cultures overlooked.
Learn!
You will learn of the ancient and nascent cheese cultures of African, Asia and the Middle East, and of one of its unlikely sources, the Camel! Camel milk is a staple food of Bedouins and desert nomad tribes. It is richer in fat and protein than cow’s milk, and is said to have many healthful properties. It is used as a medicinal product in India and as an aphrodisiac in Ethiopia. Camel milk can readily be made into yogurt, but can only be made into butter or cheese with difficulty. However, a new discovery has been made in the production of camel cheese in Africa, and the :What Took You So Long” crew was there to film it, and to alert the world!
See!
The Betel Nut chewers of Papua New Guinea, and and their hallowed Betel nut - the social, cultural and economic bedrock of one of the most ancient societies on earth.
Visit!
The diverse continent of Africa and its controversial grassroots NGOs, (Non-Governmental Organizations associated with the UN). 22 NGOs from Morocco to South Africa along the west cost were visited in 16 countries during a period of just two-and-a-half months, all by public transport.
So come to Observatory Friday night, leave the familiar world behind, and journey with the “What Took You So Long” team!
