Observatory will host a plant pressing workshop led by artist James Walsh on Sunday, May 23 and Sunday, May 30 from 1 to 4 PM.

The first Sunday we’ll look at some pressed and mounted plants as inspiration, and then talk about how to construct and use a simple plant press. After this, we’ll find some plants nearby, bring them back to Observatory, and press them. If you have some plants you’d like to press, bring them along.

We’ll leave the plants at Observatory to dry, and when we return on Sunday, May 30 we’ll demonstrate different materials and techniques for mounting plants on paper, and then mount what we gathered the week before. All materials, including glues and papers, will be provided.

$20 for each session.
